Managing Anger & Daily Frustrations

We all feel angry sometimes - and that’s ok. The key is learning how to manage our anger in a more effective way. Try one of these tips the next time you’re feeling frustrated:

Tip # 1: Walk away

Sometimes when we are angry we can say and do things that we regret. It is best to walk away from the problem and come back when we have cooled down.

Tip # 2: Take 10 deep breaths

Breathing is a great way to calm down and clear our minds when we are angry, stressed, or frustrated. Try closing your eyes, thinking of something positive and unrelated to the problem you’re feeling, and take 10 deep breaths, exhaling out your frustration. When you open your eyes, you will be calmer and not as frustrated as before.

Tip # 3: Talk to someone

It can be hard to deal with anger and frustration alone. Talk about what you’re feeling with someone and let it all out. You’ll feel calm and lighter when you get it off your chest, and you’ll feel supported too.

Tip # 4: Listen to music

Music is a great way to get in touch with our emotions, and listening to calming music can improve how we are feeling. If you are angry it is better to stay away from loud or angry music, and instead listen to something soothing and more positive. Some people also enjoy singing along and dancing to their favourite tunes.

Tip # 5: Go outside

Spending time in nature can be really relaxing. It's great to get outdoors, but research shows that indoor nature viewing can reduce stress too. So, sit back and enjoy those beautiful views when it's too hot to get outside. (#DubaiSummer)

Tip # 6: Squeeze a ball

Research shows that squeezing a stress ball is an effective way to reduce our anger and frustration.

Tip # 7: Perform a hobby

Doing things we enjoy always make us feel good. When in a bad mood, do a hobby you enjoy to make you feel better and happy. It is a great way to escape your overwhelming schedule and recharge by doing something you enjoy, that also has a purpose.

Tip # 8: Meditate

Meditation and yoga are excellent ways to relieve yourself of all stress, anger, and frustration that you’re feeling.

Tip # 9: Take a shower or bath

Taking a bath or a shower is a great way to relax, cool down and let our frustration flow away. The water and sweet aromas of your shampoos and soaps can reduce your stress and relax your mind and body. Medical research supports this as people have reported decreases in stress hormones such as cortisol, after bathing and researchers have found that bathing helps the balance of serotonin (our feel-good neurotransmitter)
