A Psychotherapeutic Intervention for Children and Families
Workshop Overview
This introductory workshop is designed for therapists, social workers and mental health care professionals interested in acquiring knowledge and skills in play therapy technique.
The presentation will begin with the various definitions of play therapy. The therapeutic powers of play will be discussed and applied to play therapy process. The play therapy process will be examined with a focus on approaches and models of play therapy. Case illustrations will offer techniques and demonstrate the process (assessment, treatment and termination). Participants will be encouraged to reflect on own practice to explore possibilities of play therapy application with their clients.
Learning Objectives:
To introduce therapeutic powers of play for child emotional well-being and cognitive and social development;
To raise awareness of play therapy process and effectiveness;
To introduce approaches and models of play therapy;
To explore possibilities of using play therapy in other therapeutic contexts.
Learning Outcomes:
To be able to identify the value of and therapeutic powers of play therapy;
To be able to discuss play therapy, its purpose, process, and effectiveness;
To be able to identify various approaches and models of play therapy;
To be able to evaluate play therapy application in various contexts.
Workshop Format
The workshop will include lectures and activities so that participants can practice the skills that they learn.
The total investment is 3 hours and the fee per person is AED 950. We require a minimum of five people to run the workshop, and a maximum of 20.
