Dr. Diana Cheaib Houry
I am a psychotherapist licensed by the Community Development Authority and I hold a Ph.D. in Psychopathology and Psychoanalysis from the University of Denis-Diderot (France). I earned my first master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from René-Descartes University (France) and my second master’s in Psychoanalytic Anthropology from the University of Denis-Diderot. I have also a university diploma in Social and Cognitive Development of Infants from René-Descartes University.
I have a special interest in women's mental health and have dedicated over 10 years to researching and studying women’s disconfort and mental issues and its relationship with culture and identity conflicts. My therapeutical orientation is psychodynamic which allows a deep understanding of the difficulties a person can go through.
I have worked in Dubai, France and Lebanon in a variety of counseling and clinical settings, focusing on women and couples’ wellbeing. My main expertise lies in working with adults having depression, anxiety disorder, panic disorder, psychosomatic symptoms, relationship issues, identity issues etc., and in providing support to women during pregnancy and after giving birth.
My knowledge and interest in anthropology and cultural particularities across many Arab and Western societies allow me to work with individuals from several cultures.
